Starting January 30, 2024, designated learning institutions (DLIs) must verify the letter of acceptance for enrollment of all post-secondary applications. The goal is to protect vulnerable students and preserve the integrity of the International Student Program.
Follow the instructions below to learn how to use the IRCC Portal to verify letters of acceptance (LOAs). LOAs are submitted to IRCC by your prospective students.

•Create accounts for additional designated learning institution (DLI) users
•Validate letters of acceptance for your DLI
•Search and view a letter of acceptance
An email with a unique invitation code will be sent to the email address of your DLI’s primary representative. You must use the same email address when you sign up for your DLI’s IRCC Portal account.
1.Go to the IRCC Portal sign up page.
2.Enter the invitation code you received. Fill in the other required fields.
3.Click Sign up.
The Confirm sign up page displays.
You’ll receive a second email with a verification code to validate your email address.
Follow the steps below to validate LOAs.
LOA verification must be completed within 10 calendar days of the date the IRCC notification email is sent to you. An application whose LOA has not been verified will be cancelled and returned to the applicant along with their processing fees.
For administrative flexibility, the system will temporarily accept validation for up to 15 calendar days instead of 10.
1.Sign in to the IRCC Portal.
2.A verification code will be sent to your registered email address. To continue verification, enter this code within 3 minutes and click Validate code.
3.Read the IRCC Portal Terms and Conditions. If you accept them, click I accept.
In the event of unforeseen or exceptional circumstances
If you’re unable to verify LOAs on time, you must email IRCC.LOAPortal-PortailLA.IRCC@cic.gc.ca immediately to ask for an extension. An extension may be granted for up to 30 days due to any of the following unforeseen circumstances: prolonged failure of power, communication or other infrastructure systems natural disaster public health emergency labour dispute We’ll respond within 5 business days and tell you if you’ve been approved for an extension how long the extension will be how to complete the verification by the new deadline
