Immersive Ads refers to non-intrusive advertisements integrated in experiences. Immersive Ads are created through the Advertisement Manager, and allow for in-experience experience and group advertisements. Immersive Ads were announced at Roblox Developers Conference 2023.
Immersive Ads have two types: Image ads, and Portal ads.
•Image Ads - Image Ads serve as a static, non-clickable image within an experience. These ads use the AdGui API.
•Portal Ads - Portal Ads are similar to image ads, however they also feature a portal which will teleport the user to the advertised experience. These ads use the AdPortal API.
Both image and portal ads are specific to the user, meaning that two users may see different ads. Users that are not eligible to see advertisements (such as those under the age of thirteen) will see a placeholder image. Ineligible users are also be unable to travel using portal advertisements. A user's eligibility can also be verified through the PolicyService:GetPolicyInfoForPlayerAsync API, allowing creators to entirely remove advertisements for ineligible users.
Not all experiences are eligible to show Immersive Ads. An experience's eligibility can be viewed through its settings on the Roblox Creator Hub.
On November 1, 2023, Roblox enabled video ads as a form of advertisement. Video advertisements are shown on AdGuis, much like Image Ads, and last 15 seconds. Developers can utilize the AdGui.OnAdEvent API to grant rewards to users who watch an entire video ad.
Developers can also disable video advertisements by toggling the AdGui.EnableVideoAds property to false.
