  3. It depends what budget level we’re talking about — obviously in indies, producers are more frequently also writers and/or directors than in mid-budget films. But I’ve noticed that most of the filmmaking teams I know whose budgets were closer to the $750k-1 million range had writers/directors who didn’t serve as producers.
