As game results come in, our system automatically adjusts team ratings (and the resulting rankings) each morning, based on the results of the previous day’s games. Teams that win by more than the ratings had predicted see their ratings increase.

This is not to overstate their predictive ability, but even in an era of unprecedented player movement, preseason ratings are still clearly better than a random number generator.
