Determine your television's antenna connector type.
Virtually every TV has an antenna input on the back or side; this is where you'll plug in the antenna. There are two main versions of this input:
- Resembles a threaded cylinder with a hole in the middle. This type of connector is the standard for most modern TVs.
- Resembles a smooth cylinder with a smaller cylinder inside of it. You may find this connection on old CRT TVs.
Check your TV's manual or look up its model number online to double-check the antenna type.
Figure out the location of the nearest broadcast station.
Turn off and unplug your TV.
Press your TV's "Power" button, then remove the plug from the back of the TV or from its electrical outlet. This will prevent you from accidentally harming your TV or antenna.
Connect the antenna to the input port.
Find the antenna port on the back of your TV, then plug in the antenna and tighten the connector (if possible).
If you're using an extension cable, connect the cable to the antenna as well as the TV's input port.
Plug back in your TV and turn it on.

- RCA. The most basic option for improving TV listening is to connect a TV's analog stereo outputs (also known as RCA outputs) to an available external audio system.
- Digital Optical. A better option for sending audio from your TV to an external audio system is the digital optical audio output connection. Connect a digital optical cable to the digital optical output on your TV.
- HDMI-ARC. Another way to access audio from your TV is with Audio Return Channel (ARC). To take advantage of this option, you have to have a TV with an HDMI connection input that is labeled HDMI-ARC.
- Bluetooth. Another way to send audio from your TV to an external audio system is via Bluetooth. The main advantage here is that it is wireless. There is no cable required to get sound from the TV to the compatible audio system.

Simply insert the red and white connectors into the audio out jacks of the same color on your cable box. Then do the same thing at the audio input jack on our HDTV.
