Or you may not, it depends if you like to catch fish in buckets or not. An old bug from 1.13 days whereby fish caught in buckets and then re-released into water count against the passive aquatic mob cap has resurfaced.

Falling snow method
This method works by gravity-affected blocks landing at the player's feet and piling up to the player's eye level. It can only be used to x-ray downward. You need the following materials: 1. 1 sand(or other cubic, gravity-affected block) 2. 4 top snow 3. Chain-lava method
This method allows you to X-ray through a lava sea in the Nether. 1. As many chains as desired. All you need to do is place the chains sideways and you're done.

Fish can spawn only in river or ocean biomes. They will not spawn in other biomes regardless how deep you make the water. You can move fish in buckets from other places and put them in your pond. Those fish will also not despawn.
