Apr 2, 2019 · This will "select" a full stack of the item you click on. In the survival inventory tab of the creative inventory, Shift + clicking the X clears the whole inventory. In any other tab, shift + clicking an item puts a stack onto the hotbar. Source
You can access equipped items from the chest by pressing the Tab key when you have your pickaxe equipped. From there, you can drop items by right-clicking an item and dragging it to the side until a Backpack icon appears, or by clicking the item and pressing X. Resources such as ammo and wood can be split, dropped into stacks, or dropped entirely.
