Music has played a major role in Summer’s life for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a home where soul music was played on a regular basis, and it was one of the first things to inspire her to start creating her own music. The feeling of the soul sound was something she hoped to be able to recreate in her own way.
Summer’s journey to becoming a successful singer hasn’t been entirely straight and narrow. At one point, she was working as a stripper in her hometown of Atlanta, but she doesn’t feel any shame about it. Even though her days of working in clubs are over, she still likes to pole dance for fun.
Since entering the spotlight, Summer has expressed how uncomfortable fame makes her feel. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Summer said, “I’m a super-duper introvert. Not because I want to be — I just don’t really understand human interaction. I don’t get it. So I just stay in the house.”
Summer’s voice is what she’s best known for, but it certainly isn’t the only instrument she has in her arsenal. She also plays the guitar, which is something she taught herself to do by watching YouTube videos. Anyone who has ever tried to learn the guitar knows how impressive that really is.

Even before Summer was in the music business, she was still about her business. She started a cleaning businessin the Atlanta area where she provided cleaning, laundry, and closet organization services. She wasn’t afraid to do any of the dirty work, but luckily she doesn’t have to worry about that anymore.
