However, if you see an question/exclamation mark, it means the animal is wary of your presence. In such cases, turn away from the animal while staying crouched until it shows interest again.
Stay crouched and go next to the animal to pet it. The heart will instantly stop flashing and turn into a stable red heart instead. Some animals will be tamed by now, while others may require you to repeat the steps. If the animal you are trying to tame doesn’t show the pick-up prompt, the steps need to be repeated.
