Sep 27, 2024 · Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth, and we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14). He does not tell us that we need to become change agents (salt or light); he tells us we are change agents. In ancient times, salt was primarily used not as an aid to taste but as a preservative.
- He Makes Us More Like Christ.
- He Gives Us Power to Witness. Just as Acts 1:8 mentions, the Holy Spirit empowers Christians to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ. He gives us the boldness to testify of the Lord Jesus Christ in situations where we would normally be fearful or timid.
- The Holy Spirit Guides Us into All Truth.
- The Holy Spirit Convicts Us of Sin. Since the Holy Spirit is working to make us like Jesus, he convicts us of our sin. Sin is something that will always offend God and hold us back.

Scripture reminds us of Jesus’ command to “Go!” and tell of who He is and who the Father is. To share the hope we have in Christ. Our faithful steps to follow Christ leads others to do the same.

God has put in us a well of “living water,” but it is our choice whether or not we drink from it. May our prayer be, “God empty me of myself and show yourself more in my life. Strengthen me with your power.”.
