A two-hour transfer will automatically be applied to your card when you tap on a reader. Make sure you tap with the same card each time you transfer within the two-hour period, or else you will be charged a new fare. Credit and debit cards are accepted on all buses, streetcars, Wheel-Trans vehicles and at all subway stations.

As long as they transfer within two hours of their first tap, the PRESTO system won’t charge them another fare.

But if I begin my trip on a bus or streetcar and pay in cash, I'd get a transfer (from the driver on a bus, from the machine on a streetcar) and I would not have a two hour transfer.
