A two-hour transfer will automatically be applied to your card when you tap on a reader. Make sure you tap with the same card each time you transfer within the two-hour period, or else you will be charged a new fare.
Aug 22, 2018 · Once the two-hour transfer system is in effect, PRESTO card users must tap their card each time they enter a subway station and whenever they board a bus or streetcar, regardless of whether they’re in a station or on the street. Tapping validates the transfer or monthly pass on the card.
The 2 hours begins when you make your first payment. I believe the purpose of tapping everytime you board a vehicle is for two reasons. One is for travel pattern analysis that could be used by TTC Service planners.
