Nov 19, 2021 · 1 and 2 you would tile all the way to the ceiling and caulk where the tile meets the ceiling. If it's wavy and not straight where the tile meets the ceiling then you should level the ceiling with joint compound before tiling.

Absolutely not. Even though groutdoes a great job of filling crevices between tiles, it should not be used as a transition from tile to ceiling. The gap between tiles and ceilings is often too big for grout and it will eventually crack and fall off. If you need a quick fix, use silicone caulk instead. It’s stronger and more flexible.

Dec 13, 2023 · Your drywall is fastened to the wall and the joints are open with no tape, no compound, and no primer painted over the drywall. In this case, I will tape and ‘mud’ the joints with thinset mortar prior to installing any tile.
