- Voyager 1 Distance from Earth
The distance of Voyager 2 from Earth is currently 20,776,351,782 kilometers, equivalent to 138.881334 Astronomical Units. Light takes 19 hours, 15 minutes and 2.4498 seconds to travel from Voyager 2 and arrive to us.
This page shows Voyager 2 location and other relevant astronomical data in real time. The celestial coordinates, magnitude, distances and speed are updated in real time and are computed using high quality data sets provided by the JPL Horizons ephemeris service (see acknowledgements for details).
Feb 9, 2024 · The current speeds of Voyager 1 and 2 relative to the Sun are roughly 17 km/s and 15 km/s, respectively. Earth's orbital speed is around 30 km/s, so there are periods each year when the Voyagers have negative speed relative to Earth. Here are some speed graphs for Voyager 1, produced using Horizons data.
This is a real-time indicator of Voyager 1's distance from Earth in astronomical units (AU) and either miles (mi) or kilometers (km). Note: Because Earth moves around the sun faster than Voyager 1 is speeding away from the inner solar system, the distance between Earth and the spacecraft actually decreases at certain times of year.
Mar 23, 2023 · Voyager 1 moves at a speed of 38,210 miles per hour (17 km/s). Voyager 2 moves at a speed of 35,000 miles per hour (15 km/s). ... This graph shows the distance of Voyager 2 from Earth from January ...

Nov 1, 2019 · Voyager 1, the faster of the two probes, is currently over 13.6 billion miles (22 billion kilometers) from the Sun, while Voyager 2 is 11.3 billion miles (18.2 billion kilometers) from the Sun. It takes light about 16.5 hours to travel from Voyager 2 to Earth. By comparison, light traveling from the Sun takes about eight minutes to reach Earth.
