  1. This data is collected via a satellite using radar, and is accurate to about 10 meters (i think). Step 2: Locate the area you wish to import, and take note of the label of the 'chunk' it is in (eg. srtm_63_18). I theory, you can download this data through the plugin, however I had trouble with that, so I used step 2.b

A program for generating Minecraft maps from real world data.

I used the great ergor/mcworld project (https://github.com/ergor/mcworld) as a starting point. It was very helpful to get started but uses GeoTIFF format which is quite seldom available. I wanted to use another approach but maybe that project is what you were looking for.

This tool is tested with Minecraft Java-Edition!

    Features:

•Scenario 1: Use a real height map to create the Minecraft landscape

•Each color in the palette determines a different height, increasing with the index of each color

•Optional you can use a mapping file to map the index of colors to heights

•Add an additional (surface) map to determine the landscape types (block types).

map2mc only needs one directory for execution, in which all data including a configuration file are then available:

If the directory does not exist, map2mc will create the directory, create an initial configuration file and empty mapping files. This is a good start for your own map.

If the directory exists, map2mc expects at least one configuration file config.properties as well as the necessary image and mapping files.

The contents of the directory and the configuration are explained in detail on the wiki pages. There you will also find further practical information about map creation and manipulation.

  2. 6 days ago · The altitude of the map was 64 blocks total. Players could build 32 blocks up or down from sea level. At some point during Classic, and continuing through the end of Indev, the level dimensions (x, y, z) become part of the save data. Worlds could be created as tall as 4,096 blocks, although the game became more unstable and laggy the larger the ...

  3. Elevation has been scaled to fit the constraints of a Minecraft world. Sea level was adjusted to 40 blocks which puts Mt. Everest at 121 blocks high. The Earth was generated with various images from NASA (including landmass, satellite, elevation, and vegetation maps) using a custom python script incorporating codewarrior’s pymclevel python ...

  4. Trying to generate a height map from a map image is a bit of a lost cause. There's no meaningful topological data you can derive from it, so at best all you're doing is approximating. On the plus side the game has height map data already, sort of. Every chunk has a height map array stored in it that indicates the highest altitude at each X Z ...

  5. FME’s support for the Minecraft format and over 350 other data sources allows you to convert and load practically any data into your Minecraft world for use however you need. For example, build interactive 3D environments from GIS and CAD data that you can subsequently share with your audience.
