The North and South satellites (N & S gates) are not connected by walkways to the main terminal (A, B, C, D concourses). You must take the underground train, which is within security, airside. SEA is not a multi-terminal airport like O'Hare, JFK, LAX, etc.

One set is in the south satellite, in which case he will have to go up the elevator or escalator, across the fancy cool skybridge, and down the other side and toward customs/immigration.
