On a typical day, Pacific harbor seals spend about half their time on the sand and half in the water. They tend to forage at night and rest during the day.

This is a great recipe for getting seriously injured. If you see an elephant seal leave the beach, and they sometimes do, do not attempt to approach the seal. Again, this is a great way to get hurt.
