While it was not shocking to see Paolo Banchero be the first name called during the 2022 NBA Draft, as many around the league believed he was the best prospect in this draft class, it was definitely shocking to see the turn of events just about an hour before the draft.

- Houston Rockets: SF/PF Jabari Smith Jr. - Auburn. The Houston Rockets really wanted to end up with Paolo Banchero third overall, but getting Jabari Smith Jr.
- Sacramento Kings: SF/PF Keegan Murray - Iowa. Taking Keegan Murray over Jaden Ivey could very well end up being another bad draft move for the Sacramento Kings, but in the short-term, Murray presents the most upside given the fact that he fills an immediate need on the wing.
