  1. Apr 21, 2020 · Well, the block height can take 256 values and each block uses at most ~2.5 bytes, so it's 12550824 12550824 256*2.5 = 100,814,837,170,544,640 bytes, aka 100,815,000 GB, aka 101 petabytes. You're going to need a bigger disk ;) Compression could reduce this somewhat, but depends heavily on the complexity of the world.

  2. Delete chunks you dont use. There is no real limit to the size of the world, I know people with world that are hundreds of gigabytes, and I recall the 2b2t world being 2 - 3TB. The real thing you need to be concerned about is how unwieldy it becomes to make backups or transfer the world.

Let’s start by saying that if you just want to download the base game, that will take a relatively low amount of space on your computer or device. We are talking about 1GB of files size (on both Java, Bedrock and Windows 10 editions), but you will be required to have at least 2GB of free memory available. If you play the Bedrock edition on other de...

What we already said in the previous paragraph applies for this scenario as well: if you want to store just the basic game in a USB driver, 2GB will be more than enough for the task, but the space needed will increase depending on the world saves and mods that you want to store. If you want to know how to find the game folder, you can check here.

it becomes a bit complicated to know how much space you need to host a Minecraft multiplayer server. It will mostly depends on the number of players that will play it. You will more or less need the usual amount of space if it will just be you and one of your friends. If you will be hosting 10-20 players, 4GB will be more than enough. But this numb...

The amount of space needed depends on the amount of world saves and mods installed, starting from the 1GB of the base game. If you want to know how much space you need for a Minecraft server, the calculation becomes a bit more difficult since other variables take place. Thank you very much for reading the article till the very end and I hope I’ll s...

  5. Not to mention the fact that due to the way disks store data (in increments of 2KB), and the fact that Minecraft stores world data in seperate files (each containing 262 chunks) means that this file will actually be even bigger. So, there you go. A Minecraft world can be 15 terabytes in size. That's silly. Sources:

  7. It is worth noting that each chunk takes up at least 4 KB on disk regardless of how much compressed data it actually stores since the game aligns them to 4 KB "sectors" (not the same as sectors on disk), so you don't actually save much space in the End (or a void world) as the minimum size of a fully generated region file is 4104 KB (including 8 KB for a header).
