- Using Paper or Cardstock. Choose a mask template. Type "masquerade mask template" into Google and hundreds of results will pop up. If you've never made a mask before, you might want to start with a simple design.
- Using Tulle, Lace, or Sheer Fabric. Print out your chosen mask template. With this method, you can print out a template that has a great amount of detail.
- Using Plaster. Grab a friend or helper. This technique requires 2 people -- one to apply the plaster, the other to act as the mold and have the plaster applied to their face.
Step 3: WORBLA. Before the clay dried and became flaky and cracked. I sprayed the plaster face with cooking spray so the worbla would not fuse to it. I heater my worbla up and gently pulled it over the features. I drew eyes out onto the mask with a highlighter, and cut them out with an exacto knife.
Step 4: Back of Mask. Figure out where you need your straps to be and mark it. I took black elastic string, braided it and hot glued it to the back side. Then paper mache over that. *Hot glue down as much string as you can but leave 1/4"1/2" from the edges or it will pull the sides of the mask too much.
