Nov 30, 2023 · May 31, 2024. Meze Empyrean II. Pros: The best Meze headphone to date. Natural, fun, emotional sound. Dynamic and plentiful, but not overdone bass. Lush, rich, smooth midrange. Great dynamics in the treble without an ounce of sibilance. Satisfying detail and accurate imaging.

The Empyrean II is a better headphone in every way. Much more controlled sound across the board that translates to a refined listening experience compared to the original. If the original Empyrean was considered a true-end-game sound back then, then the Empyrean is just [mind-explosion motion].

With big rigs like the HIFIMAN Prelude, (10W into 32Ω), you will hear a jump in dynamics over portable gear with an improved level of snappiness and power from the lows the most immediate change.
Nov 8, 2023 · New is the mention of “II” on the headband. Where the original Empyrean had a glossy yoke and ear cup finish, the Empyrean 2 this time round has a matte black finish. The vertical rod on the head band is now in shiny black and it has a grey accent on top. The side plate on the yoke now is silver and it’s showing the Meze Audio logo.

Nov 8, 2023 · Headphoneus Supremus. TLDW: Way less bloaty, much more clear, a very strong competitor to any headphone at any pricepoint. Weakspot: Dynamics. The very obvious mid-bass bloat has always been the dealbreaker for me with the original Empyrean and to a slightly lesser degree, the Empyrean Elite.
