Cash machines allow bigger withdrawals than that! And don't even get me started on Santander - despite now being a bank, they still have the £500 limit Abbey National had in 1990!

Jan 28, 2015 · If I decide to transfer savings from one building society to another via a bank account are there any tax implications for the transfer? I am a non-tax payer. I assume not because transfers are common, but I thought I would check.
Payment limits are used by building societies and banks to limit the amount of money you can send from your accounts. We use them to reduce the risk of money going to scammers or to the wrong account. We have different limits for different types of payment, methods of payment and account.
The minimum you can withdraw from a cash machine in the UK or abroad, or in a Nationwide branch using any credit card, is £10 per day. The maximum amount each card holder can withdraw per day from a cash machine is £300.

For cash withdrawals in a branch you can withdraw up to £1,000 on any one day or £5,000 by giving a few days notice. You can only withdraw a maximum of £5,000 in any seven day period. For cash withdrawals in an agency you can withdraw up to £500 on any one day, and only withdraw a maximum of £1,000 in any seven day period.
