She was from the Jessore district, where her father worked at the Tagore estate. In 1883, at the age of nine, she married Tagore.

They met through an advertisement that Sri Aurobindo put into the newspaper indicating his desire to marry a Hindu girl according to Hindu rites. A close friend of her father’s, Girish Chandra Bose, arranged the marriage.
In 1901, on a visit to Calcutta, he married 14-year-old Mrinalini, the daughter of Bhupal Chandra Bose, a senior official in government service. Aurobindo was 28 at that time. Mrinalini died seventeen years later in December 1918 during the influenza pandemic .

Aurobindp's absorption at political and literature action, and thereafter at a spiritual practice left a little room for domesticity. 17 Dec.1918 Mrinalini died during epidemic influenza.

Jul 26, 2019 · She knew Mrinalini as her neighbor in her childhood days at Hatibagan. At the time of Sri Aurobindo’s arrest by the police, it was Sudhira who came to Mrinalini’s rescue in 1908. Sudhira would take Mrinalini to the Nivedita’s school and she would be treated very well by the children as the revered wife of Sri Aurobindo.
