— A Death Eater calling out Harry Potter's location to Voldemort
The Battle of the Seven Potters, also known as the Battle of the Seven Harrys, the Battle over Little Whinging, or the Flight from Little Whinging, was an aerial battle, or dogfight, of the Second Wizarding War that took place above the Muggle area of Little Whinging.
The battle occurred on 27 July 1997, when several members of the Order of the Phoenix were ambushed by Death Eaters while removing Harry Potter from the home of his only relatives, the Dursley family.
Background informationThe battleAftermath•Just as Tom Riddle split his soul in seven parts through Horcruxes to preserve his life, Harry Potter "split" into seven "bodies" to preserve his life. Instead of accomplishing this by killing people, Harry's friends volunteered to help him in this task out of love.
•In the book, J. K. Rowling refers to Harry's multiple likenesses as "Harrys".
•In the film version of the battle, Harry is apparently identified when Hedwig, released by him before take-off, attacks a Death Eater chasing him to defend him and is killed.
•In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Mrs Weasley smiles at George's "holey" joke, as opposed to becoming sadder, as she did in the novel.
•The Battle of the seven Potters is also known as "Flight from Little Whinging" or "Battle of the Seven Harrys", and the film's soundtrack for the scene is titled "Sky Battle".
•In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, everyone arrives at The Burrow after the battle (apart from the late Alastor Moody and Mundungus Fletcher) as the Tonkses are omitted from the film.
