for those not using the curseforge launcher, look for the forge installer, click on the three lines at the top left corner and find your game version then download the installer. After the installer has been downloaded, open it with java then extract/install client then whichever one made the folder that says the version needed should be dragged into versions>folder of the modpack.

Click those dots and a drop down menu should show. In that menu click Edit Profile. That should take you to a bigger pop up window where it tells you game version and stuff. Scroll down to the bottom of that window and you should see the option of the ModLoader as a drop down list. In that list you should be able to change the ModLoader version.
