Apr 20, 2021 · A USB cable has all the wires you need, there's two for data, two for power and a shield for GND - So you can use the four wires for CTS, TXD, RXD and DTR and use the shield for GND. However, if you already have the Ethernet cable, you may as well use it. Don't connect VCC (+5v). Good luck!

SIO2PC allows you to connect your SIO port to a PC through either a serial or USB connection. For reliability I would recommend using the FTDI board with the USB connection.
I made small modification to Atari SIO plug in order to fit in the FT232RL USB to serial board from ebay. The board dimensions are 26x16mm without pin header. In the Atari plug I used 3.96mm pitch contacts (for example). To wire the PCB you must first desolder the pin header and solder jumper to 5V on the bottom side of the PCB. Then connect:
