  1. Sep 19, 2017 · 1- You need to connect the Red wire of the FTDI FT232RL USB cable (+5V) to the Atari SIO pin #10 through a 5.6k resistor (in line connection), because Atari disk drive needs +5V which will be supplied from the FTDI FT232RL USB cable. 2- You need to switch the two data lines: To connect to Disk drive:

  2. Apr 20, 2021 · A USB cable has all the wires you need, there's two for data, two for power and a shield for GND - So you can use the four wires for CTS, TXD, RXD and DTR and use the shield for GND. However, if you already have the Ethernet cable, you may as well use it. Don't connect VCC (+5v). Good luck!

  3. Mar 7, 2019 · Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk. I'd just like to point out the SIO2PC and SIO2SD are two different animals. SIO2PC allows you to connect your SIO port to a PC through either a serial or USB connection. For reliability I would recommend using the FTDI board with the USB connection.

  4. I made small modification to Atari SIO plug in order to fit in the FT232RL USB to serial board from ebay. The board dimensions are 26x16mm without pin header. In the Atari plug I used 3.96mm pitch contacts (for example). To wire the PCB you must first desolder the pin header and solder jumper to 5V on the bottom side of the PCB. Then connect:

  5. DIY SIO2USB adapter. You need: 1 Diode 1N5817 (optional but might cause problems in some instances otherwise, like when having connected more than one SIO device.) preferably solid core wire, holds the FTDI in place nicely. Wired up like this: SIO connector pinout. The FTDI might need to be set accordingly to run at 5V.

  6. SIO2PC Universal - USB/SIO Jack Version Attach a standard Atari SIO cable to the Atari Computer or to the last device in your SIO chain. Attach the other end of the SIO cable to the SIO jack on the SIO2PC/ProSystem Interface.
