  7. 2. Absorb Pass. An absorb pass is a ball that is received almost identical to a normal pass, but involves absorbing the impact from the ball by bending your knees and leaning backward. You always want to be moving through the ball, but sometimes a spike is hit hard enough that a normal pass isn’t enough to prevent it from going back over the net.
