If your disks are standard ST format, a Thinkpad USB floppy drive might work - mine can read DD. The other option is to remove the SCSI hard disk from your ACSI-SCSI converter hard disk and attach it directly via SCSI to macOS or Linux or Windows, with a PCI(e) SCSI controller, or an USB-SCSI adapter (often part of Iomega Jaz USB, which in reality is a SCSI Jaz with USB adapter).
May 2, 2012 · What will work for sure is: writing files onto regular DD floppy, formatted to 720KB. So, type in command prompt: format a: /t:80 /n:9 . Then copy some shorter text file (few KB long) onto and try to read it on ST. Of course, may try some game too - but then need to know which can be copied filewise.

Either buy preformatted DD IBM disks, format the disk to DOS 720k on the Mac or use one of the Atari utilities to write the DOS bootsector onto the Atari disk. Nov 12, 2012 · This is correct, but the Atari drive had to be an external one as it connected to the back of the Spectre cartridge. If the ST has an internal drive, it remains used by the Atari while the external connected to the Spectre would read/write MAC disks. I believe you're mistaken on this point, Guitarman.

Jun 2, 2019 · Both USB floppy drives I have tested can also read floppy disks with other number of sectors per track, for example 800 kB disks (10 sectors per track). For that, the disks either needs a MS-DOS compatible boot sector specifying that number of sectors or the drive needs to be told the disk format via the appropriate command (MODE SELECT, flexible disk page).
