  5. Remove old glazing with a putty knife or chisel. Patch any chips or cracks in the frame with epoxy. Clean the area thoroughly and apply linseed oil to the wood. Roll the glazing compound into thin ropes and press into place around the pane. Smooth the compound with a putty knife at a 45-degree angle.
