Canadians conducted a total of 3.4 billion cash transactions, valued at $72 billion, in 2020.37 Cash represented about 17 per cent of the total volume and 0.7 per cent of the total value of all POS transactions. Interac e-Transfer continued to dominate the online transfer payment segment with more than three in five Canadians (61 per cent) using Interac e-Transfer to either send or receive a payment in a given month.
