Illumination (formerly known as Illumination Entertainment until 2017) is an American company created and founded by Chris Meledandri. The company is owned by Universal Pictures. Illumination's content, like other film and movie companies, is to upload the trailers of their upcoming movies. And also put clips from their movies.
They have even made several Minions video games together with Gameloft for Android and iOS, with Minion Rush being the most popular.
Meledandri left as President of 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios in early 2007. While at those companies he supervised or executive-produced movies including Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Robots, and Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!. After leaving, he founded Illumination Entertainment and a deal was announced positioning Illumination Entertainment as NBC Universal's family entertainment arm, that would produce one to two films a year starting in 2010. As part of the deal, Illumination retains creative control and Universal Pictures exclusively distributes the films.
In 2011, Illumination acquired the animation department of the French animation and visual effects studio Mac Guff, which animated Despicable Me and Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, and formed Illumination Mac Guff (later Illumination Studios Paris).

•The language the Minions speak is a fictional language called "Minionese". It's derived from Indonesian, French, English, Italian, Spanish and Hindi languages.

•The final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie came out a day before Mario Day, March 10. Although in Japan it was released on the same day mentioned above due to time differences.
•On June 22nd, 2022, Illumination made a video called "The Office x Minions", which is the intro of the TV show of its same name but with Despicable Me characters (specially the Minions).
•Coincidentally, Gru is voiced by Steve Carell, who also portrayed Michael Scott in The Office.
•On February 12th, 2023, Illumination released "Super Mario Bros. Plumbing Commercial" which surprisingly it shows that song it's The Plumber Rap from "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!".
