  1. I love the look, and the set up was amazing, but it’s not particularly a movie that lived up to my expectations. This! I also think this movie was poorly named. I expected the badass character in a movie called “Brave” to go on a grand adventure, but what we got was majorly disappointing.

  2. But people anticipated more from Pixar, like people anticipate more from a Nolan new film or James Cameron new film. Since Brave, Pixar is making more and more forgettable original, like The good dinosaur, Onward, Luca. The general public's expectation for Pixar is no longer as high as a decade ago. With Disney picking up their 3D animation ...

Bravetakes place in the 10th century medieval Scotland. This is definitely Pixar’s first attempt to write a film set in the past, as in way back in history, which is the Early Middle Ages. This is a feast for fans of the olden times. Everything is perfectly designed to make it look as medieval as possible. It is also one of the Pixar animated movie...

Female protagonists are no surprise as there have been many female leads in the past. What makes Merida special is that she is a princess who does not need saving. She excels in archery, horse riding, and sword fighting. Merida is also knowledgeable about the woods. Aside from that, her story does not involve any Prince Charming or quest for love. ...

The movie featured original scores from Scottish composer Patrick Doyle. The music is very much faithful to its Scottish roots with the use of Celtic musical instruments. They combined it with orchestral compositions producing an epic musical theme. They also hired Scottish contemporary musicians and English bands to create the soundtracks. It is t...

The writers also had to incorporate Scottish culture and traditions due to its setting – the beautiful and medieval Scotland. They featured clan tartans (worn by King Fergus), the Highland games, and even traditional food. Even the legend of Mor’du is true to its origin. It is a Scottish folklore that inspired a lot of stories in the kingdom. Their...

One thing remarkable about Braveis the accent of the characters. Scottish voice actress Kelly Macdonald lent her talent to Merida. Almost all of the characters were voiced by Scottish and English actors. This, in fact, makes their accents sound real and natural. It is refreshing to watch a movie that stays true to its core, especially one that is h...

  3. Dec 6, 2018 · Summary. To summarize, Brave is a very unusual princess movie, and Merida is quite the untraditional princess. As a person who has watched many princess movies, it is my educated conclusion that Brave is not only a good film but the best Disney princess movie. This movie shattered stereotypes and showed that Disney has come a long way.

  4. A powerful and relevant story wrapped up in gorgeous animation and one of the best soundtracks of the year. Full Review | Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 19, 2022. At ten, “Brave” is less flashy ...

  5. The final battle, however, is quite the spectacle. Not necessarily in a good way though, as it takes place mostly in the black of night with frightening cruelty. The action is also further muddled with the unnecessary use of 3D technology. (Come to think of it, the 3D effects are more of a bane than a boost to the entire movie).
