Sep 18, 2019 · Before the Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark came along in 2010, there was of course the 1973 original, a made-for-TV horror film directed by John Newland.
The original was WAY creepier and more atmospheric. I did dig the remake in a different way, but in terms of sheer effectiveness, it's no contest.
