That’s when you typically hear about Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York, or Big Trouble in Little China. However, the thriller about ghosts hidden in the fog, made in 1980, is a position often omitted in such comparisons.
Agreed 100%. I think it's perfect in every aspect. A good deal of the movie was made up of reshoots (by Carpenter), and something tells me Mr. Carpenter is still a bit disappointed that his original vision of the movie didn't work out. It's probably the best movie that has the most reshoots, honestly. Definitely underappreciated.

Oct 5, 2018 · The Fog is a terrific horror film that delivers great style and atmosphere. Sadly Carpenter wasn’t happy with it and made numerous reshoots to compete with other films of the time. It cracks along at a good pace, and on my first viewing of it in a cinema back in the day, there was a jump scare in a church that had the audience scream out loud.
