The 1984(the year) adaptation has a atmosphere that Orwell would have imagined. However, it does not go into detail about the party's philosophy, and it might be boring for the average audience. The 1956 adaptation may be more entertaining, and the 1954 adaptation has the most explanation of the party's philosophy.
If you're a fan of 80s slasher movies, you'll enjoy 1984. It pays homage to the 80s slasher genre in nearly every way. Characters, aesthetics, etc. I wasn't sold on 1984 at first and skipped the season when it initially aired in 2019. But I went back and watched it last year, and it was really good.
