If 1984 had gotten this right, there is no question I'd prefer it over 2021. Date palm scene is very good, and a nice touch in such a rushed movie. Kynes was given a much more dramatic death in this film than 1984, and it was a powerful moment.

The 1984 version is of course rushed and have a lots of mistakes, but is still more “human” and the motivations are much more clear then in Villeneuve’s movie. The 2021 film is a better movie overall, but Lynch‘s version, even with all the producers interferance, is a more human story which is also poetic at the same time.
