May 17, 2024 · Unfortunately, 9Minecraft is not considered a safe website for downloading Minecraft mods. It has a reputation for hosting stolen mods and mods recompiled to include malware. It is recommended to use CurseForge instead, as it is a trusted and secure platform for Minecraft mods.
From the user's perspective -- even if it isn't the official site, so long as they can get the mod they're looking for, it's basically fine. It'd be great if search could avoid doing that sort of stuff, though. But see below. The sites break the law. Some mods aren't freely redistributable.
Feb 25, 2015 · Here is the list i have come up with so far of unsafe sites for downloading mods: minecraftdl, 9minecraft, 8minecraft, 6minecraft, 5minecraft, 4minecraft, 3minecraft, and 2minecraft. Basically any site that uses a number before minecraft is unsafe, and only use the minecraft forums, planet minecraft, curseforge, or curse.com for download links.
To be always safe - use either curseforge or modrinth. There are dozens of unofficial and suspicious mod sites. Okay, thank you! Came to say the same as above! Nexus is mostly safe too but the mod quality there is eh imo. Nexus has minecraft mods??? Yeah.
If a mod is well known, and the creator of the mod has an official site, then that’s always the safest place to download from. If you’re not sure whether or not a mod is safe, then looking at a site like The Minecraft Forum is usually the best option. Oct 14, 2020 · For the short answer, no, 9minecraft isn’t safe. Plenty of reports and claims have been made regarding the site being suspicious and not reliable at all for getting mods. But that is clearly not enough to say that the website isn’t safe.
