Edit: there's no such thing as an "iPlayer account". There's a BBC.co.uk account which is used for notifications of new shows, comments on HYS and presumably other things. It just so happens that the BBC use this same account to validate your access to iPlayer. Let's say you had a laptop and were logged into BBC.co.uk, as millions of people are.
