Currently playing through Infernum and I can recommend it, it's pretty fun. After playing two vanilla Calamity playthroughs I haven't hit any major roadblocks in terms of difficulty (Skeletron, Moon Lord, and Profaned Guardians being the only ones that really slowed me down), but at the same time a lot of bosses have become a lot more fun ...
We all know that calamity is hard, and it is hard by design. There's a lot of content gated behind revengence/death/whatever modes. But not everyone wants to or can endure the difficulty. That's why I've always been pairing calamity with some other mods that aid the gameplay. My personal experience:
