Melee, it's the most saturated class and has the best gear and the most fun progression, it's THE class for calamity. Melee- tanky and a power trip outside of high difficulties. Ranged- Massive DPS, best if you can dodge. Mage- versatility, weapons for every playstyle.

I always like to play as Mage, because of the variety in weapons, like homing, lifesteal, aoe, and so on. Summoner is really fun too, you can see enemies melt without you doing anything.
