May 21, 2019 · Petr Stehlík released a new version of the highly portable 8-bit Atari computers and Atari 5200 console emulator. Atari800 now includes Altirra BIOSes for all emulated systems: 400/800, XL/XE, and 5200; as well as Altirra BASIC. It is now possible to use the emulator without providing any ROM images.
Nov 14, 2021 · Ive been using emulators since the late 80s xformer pcditto come to mind, then everything in the 90s. No other emulator i have used feels as right as Altirra. like i mean there are many great emus out there but Altirra you would think was an official atari of back then release meant as the next platform. It works so well.
Dec 30, 2023 · I have upgraded to 4.20, but I am now having issues using the MIO device in the emulator. No matter which firmware I attempt to use, the device comes up with 0K ram available and won't function. I have tried the emulator in portable mode and with the default registry mode with no change in the ram warning.

Download the Altirra zip package (Altirra 4.x binary) Copy the contents of the Altirra zip file to an empty folder of choice, for example d:\Altirra; Create an empty file called Altirra.ini in the Altirra folder, in this example you'll end up with d:\Altirra\Altirra.ini. Settings will be stored in this file.
