- OLD FAITHFUL GEYSER. The most famous and most predictable of all the geysers in the park, Old Faithful is an unmissable attraction in Yellowstone. In a spectacular display, a plume of heated water is sent between 100 and 185 feet (30-56 metres) into the air.
- MORNING GLORY POOL & UPPER GEYSER BASIN. Morning Glory Pool is a hot spring around 30 minutes’ walk from Old Faithful. It’s remarkable for the distinct coloration caused by bacteria that inhabit the water, resembling the flower of the same name.
- BISCUIT BASIN & MYSTIC FALLS. Biscuit Basin is a collection of colorful thermal pools and small geysers located around 10 minutes’ drive from Old Faithful.
- GRAND PRISMATIC SPRING. The Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest hot spring in the USA and one of the most spectacular places to visit in Yellowstone.
- Grand Prismatic Spring. If there is one place that you really have to see in Yellowstone, it is the colorful Grand Prismatic Spring, the star of the Midway Geyser Basin.
- Old Faithful Geyser. One of Yellowstone’s most remarkable landmarks – Old Faithful Geyser – is another absolute must in the park. Most famous and the most predictable out of nearly 500 Yellowstone geysers, Old Faithful was the first one to receive a name.
- Upper Geyser Basin & Morning Glory Pool. Upper Geyser Basin, home to the above-mentioned Old Faithful geyser, contains around 25% of the world’s geysers.
- Lamar Valley. One of the absolute best things to do in Yellowstone is to watch wildlife. Lamar Valley is one of the best places to see bison and other wildlife in Yellowstone.
Sep 11, 2024 · This 3 day Yellowstone National Park itinerary is perfect for seeing the best of the park in an efficient and low-stress way. Prior to our June 2024, Tim and I also visited the park two other times: for a weekend in 2015 and a (very hectic) day in 2021.
4 days is the ideal amount of time needed to properly see Yellowstone National Park. This allows you to view the most famous geyser basins, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone Lake, and Lamar Valley.
Sitting at the confluence of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, where the Rocky Mountains meet the Snake River Plain, Yellowstone is the world's first-ever national park. There's no bad time to visit Yellowstone National Park – it's open about ten months of the year, and is spectacular in all seasons.
