I love the show and it's also a brutal critique on the period. Many of the most class jokes are actually realistic depictions of how people could be treated. A spoof of Paris Hilton and Kardassian type shows isn't something that is going to land on reddit's radar.
I love an intense high budget drama set in the countryside as much as the next person, but there are a lot of good comedies out there too, from the relatively accurate to the slightly satirical. Some of my favorites are Blackadder, Upstart Crow, Up the Women, and Another Period.
