It's easier to add your own games. It supports more 3rd party controllers (unfortunately no classic style joysticks).

  8. The other is real hardware. You will spend more money to get all the games up and running on a real 7800 and hooked up to a modern TV. A 7800 may need new caps, it needs mods or the 7800GD with an upscaler to output RGB to HDMI. The original controllers are not great and you need adapters to use more modern options.
