I’ve used Barron’s for AP Chem, APUSH, SAT, Subject Tests, and I can say that it’s helpful but it covers more material than needed, especially for the sciences. Barron’s is the best option for math though, AP Calc BC book is known to be good.

Barron’s prep books are well known for being slightly more difficult than the actual tests they prepare you for, and their AP statistics review book is no exception. It goes over challenging stats concepts and prepares you for the most difficult questions you’ll see on the exam.
Though it varies test to test, on average, Princeton Review seems to offer more practice tests than Barron’s. But more than just quantity, we found Princeton Review’s practice questions and essay prompts to be more realistic of actual AP exam problems. In addition, we liked their text explanations.
They have great materials for MCAT, LSAT, GRE, SAT, AP, as well as a huge list of the best colleges you can apply to in the US. In general, Barron’s books are good when you already absorbed most of the knowledge necessary for the exam, and now you just want to do quick practice drills.

As everyone has already said, Barron’s books are always much harder than the actual test. Although it is very detailed in a lot of categories, it is sometimes TOO detailed, and it gives you information that you really just don’t need to know and probably aren’t expected to know.

For AP bio I would recommend focusing on making sure you understand all the complex processes rather than just studying a giant book. That being said, Barron’s does a good job of splitting that stuff up, but use YouTube videos to make sure you understand the complex stuff. For reference I got a 4
