Sep 1, 2024 · In Mame, hit TAB and you configure the game-specific controls with " Input (this machine) ". And from there you can specify the Left Stick (up/down), Right Stick (up/down), and Button 1 for firing. That to me is the only way to play Battlezone since it matches the arcade, vs. simplified single D-Pad control.
Battlezone. (1980 video game) Battlezone is a first-person shooter tank combat game released for arcades in November 1980 by Atari, Inc. The player controls a tank which is attacked by other tanks and missiles. Using a small radar scanner along with the terrain window, the player can locate enemies and obstacles around them in the barren landscape.
Battlezone is among my favorite arcade games. I played it often while growing up. The Atari 2600 version may not look as nice as the arcade version, but it is among the better ports to the system. It's not exactly a first person view like the other versions. Your front of your tank is at the bottom of the screen.
