      • Battlezone is a classic arcade game of the arcade golden era. Released by Atari in 1980, Battlezone was popular for many years due to it’s unique gameplay and features.

  1. Battlezone is a first-person shooter tank combat game released for arcades in November 1980 by Atari, Inc. The player controls a tank which is attacked by other tanks and missiles. Using a small radar scanner along with the terrain window, the player can locate enemies and obstacles around them in the barren landscape.

  2. With Battlezone becoming widly successful, Atarisoft ported the game to many home consoles and computers around 1983. The original PC was quite close to the arcade version, the graphics and movement were sufficient but the game lacked sound effects during gameplay.

  5. Dec 1, 2020 · Several years ago, my brother bought an Atari Flashback 64 console, and I became obsessed with playing the 1983 tank video game Battlezone. As crude as the first-person shooter graphics may be, the game feels like a real tank simulator (minus the volcanoes and UFOs).

  8. As graphics go, Battlezone is one of the best looking Atari 2600 games I’ve seen, which isn’t saying much, since I’ve only played a handful of the titles available on the console. What makes this game stand out is it’s pseudo-three dimensional perspective, which is something of an accomplishment considering the console’s limitations.
