The main focus is the whales, made all the more better by the realistic effects that makes most of the shots appear like they are a few feet from the actors. We are riveted to their situation. That’s not to say Big Miracle is a riveting film — far from it. It’s just when the spotlight is on the whale’s plight, we really care about it.

Rated: PG (For language) Can a there be a good family movie that covers an inspiring true story while also living in the real world? In the case of “Big Miracle” I may have just found it.
And most people see her as a radical. But she’s more than a little useful in this case, almost singlehandedly shaming the state’s governor into getting the Coast Guard involved in a rescue attempt—an effort that eventually reaches all the way up to the White House.
