   Is Civ V a good game for a beginner?

   • Civ V is probably the more accessible one for beginner but I did not like it very much because it actually refrains you from founding lots of city which is just dumb for a Civ game IMO. Civ IV is probably the more complete experience, very well balanced being a refinement of the previous iterations.

   • The different games in the Civ series are essentially different games entirely. Obviously, there's no overarching story, so there's no need to start with the first game, and there are enough significant differences between games in the series that the more recent games aren't necessarily objectively better either.

   So I've played avery game in the Civ series (from I to VI) since I was a boy and recently got Civ VI (through the Epic deal) and showed it to my kids (7 and 10). They loved it. Now they want to watch me play all the time and think this might be a good way to introduce them to strategy games and longer term thinking.
