Dead Island 2 is Dead Island 1 with prettier graphics, insane gore physics, and a goofier story in a different location. My 2 cents - watch a longplay or let's play of it if you're honestly not sure if you want to spend money on this one, you won't miss much.

Apr 1, 2014 · controls are fine on keyboard and game pad. Single player this game isn't much- it's made for 4 player co-op and that's where the fun is at.
Dead Island sits somewhere in the middle with how competently it handles it. You can’t craft anything, but you can mod all weapons and you need to repair them as well. The repairing itself is a neat concept and done in a way that never tires the player, but mods is where the system truly shines.

Definitely hope dlc/updates give this an endgame. It feels good to play, your attacks have impact. The game is surprisingly good looking, the gore effects are terribly great, most of the characters are likeable enough to play multiple characters and feel relatively differently when switching around.
